Disguise a Turkey

Our class will complete a Disguise a Turkey project with a persuasive writing piece this week and next week. The idea is simple...the students are given a turkey picture which they will then have to take home and "turn into" something else. What fun!

So, hunt for some ideas together and have fun creating this with your child. Our children grow up way too fast, so enjoy and cherish these special times while you can. I find Pinterest is a great place to find ideas.

I am looking forward to seeing each project and reading their persuasive writing to convince me that each "turkey" is not really a turkey.

Here is a plea from Mr. Turkey himself:

Hello,

My name is Mr. Turkey and I need your help. I heard this terrible rumor that something happens to turkeys on Thanksgiving Day. Tell me it isn’t true! I talked to your teacher and together we came up with an idea to avoid our Thanksgiving Day demise. Here’s the idea:

Take me home and make a disguise for me. It can be anything you want…dress me up like Santa, a baseball player, an elephant, a football player, a ballerina, a ninja, a rock star, ANYTHING that will help me look like I am NOT a turkey. Do you think you can help me?

Your mom and dad can help you because my life depends upon your creative disguise. So thank you, mommies and daddies, for your help.

Please send me back to school by November 20th.

Your teacher is going to hide me somewhere in the hallway or the classroom so I won’t end up on anyone’s plate for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks again.

Scared featherless,
Mr. Turkey
